Provident Bank hosts Lobby for the Arts in Portsmouth

2/5/15

PORTSMOUTH– The Provident Bank’s Lobby for the Arts in Portsmouth will present the work of Alison Huber Jewett. The exhibit will be on display to the public January through April during regular bank hours at the bank’s branch at 21 Daniel St. The public is invited to an artist’s reception, “Buildings and Their Seasons,” honoring Huber Jewett on Feb. 19 from 5:30 to 7 p.m.  Light refreshments will be served.
“My drawings turn to color with that buttery wonder between brush and canvas and a new friend is born, a new story written,” Huber Jewett said. “I am inspired by history, early American objects and life before the 19thcentury.”
The Provident Bank’s Lobby for the Arts Program, celebrating its 17th year, is an ongoing series of local art exhibits displayed in all of the bank’s branch lobbies. It receives no commission for artwork sold, and pays all expenses associated with the exhibit. The bank has been recognized for its commitment to building a creative community with a 2012 New Hampshire Business Committee for the Arts Business in the Arts Award for the Lobby for the Arts program as well as for its support of local artists and cultural organizations throughout the Seacoast.
